Lane (Webuild Group) wins $253M Florida contract

PRESS RELEASES

Milan, October 4, 2018 – The Lane Construction Corporation of the Salini Impregilo Group has won a $253-million contract in Florida to design and a section of the Wekiva Parkway in Seminole County north of Orlando, the latest recognition of Lane’s leadership in road and highway work in the United States.

Lane, which has a long presence in Florida, will design and build 2.63 miles of a limited access toll road from Orange Boulevard to east of Rinehart Road, including the new Wekiva Parkway interchange at I-4 that will connect with SR 417. The project is part of the 25-mile tolled Wekiva Parkway that will provide travel alternatives and relieve other area roads of traffic congestion between the counties of Orange, Lake, and Seminole. Construction is to begin in early 2019 and end in 2022.

It has been recognized as being environmentally sustainable because it aims to protect the wildlife that the parkway will encroach upon by creating 3,400 acres of conservation land, numerous wildlife bridges, and elevated roadways to reduce accidents between vehicles and wildlife.

Lane is involved in a number of other roadworks in Florida, such as the I-4 Ultimate Improvement Project in Orlando; the Osceola County Line to the Beachline Expressway/SR 528; and the Suncoast Parkway 2 leading north of Tampa.

The Group and Lane are active in roadwork in Virginia, Pennsylvania and South Carolina, as well as in building bridges, such as the replacement of the Gerald Desmond Bridge in California and the Union Port Bridge in the Bronx, New York. The Group is also involved in some of the leading projects in other sectors, such as the Anacostia and Northeast Boundary hydraulic tunnels in Washington, D.C., and the Three Rivers Protection and Overflow Reduction Tunnel in Indiana.
