Rome Metro Linea C
Reopened the historic panoramic viewpoint overlooking Via dei Fori Imperiali
Rome Metro, Line C: Belvedere Cederna Reopens to the Public
With the completion of the redevelopment works on the surrounding areas, the Belvedere Cederna — the historic panoramic viewpoint overlooking Via dei Fori Imperiali and positioned above the Muñoz Wall — will once again be accessible to the public.
The dismantling of the Muñoz Wall’s outer section began in 2013 to allow construction of the Colosseo/Fori Imperiali station on Rome Metro Line C. The project was commissioned by Roma Metropolitane on behalf of Roma Capitale and carried out by the Metro C General Contractor, led by Webuild and Vianini Lavori.
The Acilio Clivus ramp, the Belvedere, and the wall designed in 1932 by architect Antonio Muñoz have been restored using materials consistent with the originals, ensuring full harmony with the surrounding historical landscape. The pedestrian path leading up to Belvedere Cederna has also been rebuilt, including the installation of traditional sampietrini paving stones and basalt flooring near the exit onto Via dei Fori Imperiali.
