Messina–Catania High-Capacity Railway: Excavation of the First Tunnel Completed

The TBM Alessia has completed excavation of the Forza D'Agrò tunnel

New sustainable mobility is taking shape in Sicily: the consortium led by the Group has completed the excavation of the Forza D'Agrò tunnel, the first on the AC Messina-Catania railway line, part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean TEN-T corridor.

On the Taormina/Letojanni–Giampilieri lot, part of the doubling of the Messina–Catania line, the TBM “Alessia” has completed an excavation of approximately 2.5 km to build the tunnel.
The project, carried out by the consortium led by Webuild and involving Pizzarotti, also involves SELI Overseas. The Group thus confirms its commitment to sustainable mobility in Southern Italy: 20 projects, 10,200 people employed, 7,500 companies involved.
