EVOLUTIO
Building the future for the last 120 years
EVOLUTIO
In Rome, the Webuild exhibition on infrastructures
Ara Pacis Museum, Rome, Italy
October 7 - November 9, 2025
During its Rome stop at the Ara Pacis, the Evolutio Exhibition illustrated how Italy’s journey over the past century has progressed in parallel with the development of infrastructure works—dams, water systems, metro networks, buildings, railways, motorways, and bridges—that have continuously raised living standards. A story spanning 120 years. The story of an Italy that has grown through infrastructure. A story of bold visions and major works. A story of ingenuity and craftsmanship.
Structured into six thematic areas, ranging from “Everyday Life: How People Lived”, offering insight into daily lifestyles of the historical period, to “Italy’s Path: The Works”, Evolutio shed light on the profound transformation of a nation driven by engineering and technological advancements, explored through both technical and cultural perspectives. At the Ara Pacis Museum, landmarks of modernity built by Webuild were showcased in a narrative that unfolds both above and beneath the surface of the world. Around one hundred photographs, along with historical and contemporary testimonies, evoked the impact that major infrastructure projects have had on Italian society, engaging all its components.
The exhibition also featured landmarks of modernity such as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens (2016), the Riyadh Metro (Orange Line, 2025), Milan Metro Line 1, and many others. The exhibition brought together photographs, historical testimonies, and contemporary contributions, alongside works by leading figures in industrial photography, including Guglielmo Chiolini, and filmmakers deeply attentive to society, such as Ermanno Olmi—while also highlighting the inspiration that major infrastructure projects have provided to the worlds of art and music.

The communication campaign: What would life be like without major infrastructure projects?
EVOLUTIO is a cultural initiative dedicated to the role of infrastructure in the economic, industrial, and social progress of the territories in which we operate. A journey spanning 120 years, to discover who we were, who we are, and who we aspire to become.
The EVOLUTIO project unfolds across two complementary dimensions: the travelling exhibition and the digital museum.
About us
