Fotonews Ponte Farnese: l’artista Olivier Grossetête racconta il progetto

Today, at Villa Farnesina, artist Olivier Grossetête presented his project. Meanwhile, works continued, as the three balloons are being studied by the artist's technical team who are carrying out the planning and technical analysis of the process to lift the balloons, which will allow the “Farnese Bridge” to fly over the Tiber near Ponte Sisto, tomorrow.
During the press meeting, the French artist praised the collaboration and strong contribution offered by citizens to build this artistic project and the energy embodied by Italian people, as he considers this experience "exciting" beyond all expectations.
Grossetête explained: “I had already built three bridge installations, but this is the first to be suspended over a river, which involves more technical difficulties”. "This is why, tomorrow - continued the artist - a team of Webuild technicians will get to work, helping complete the installation, transporting the bridge and inflating the three balloons that will allow it to be lifted into the air".
Olivier Grossetête also wanted to illustrate the symbolic meaning he attributes to the work: "My bridges are ephemeral, but they explain (even if people cannot physically cross them) the importance of connections ". "If bridges did not exist - explained the artist - it would not be possible to connect cities that are divided by rivers". Grossetête concluded: "We were very happy with the partnership between the French Embassy and Webuild, between an institution with prestigious headquarters in the Italian capital and a large construction company that builds bridges. This monumental project summarizes a story that is important in many ways ".
