MILAN, February 3, 2021 - Webuild will host on Thursday, February 4 (6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. AEDT; 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. CET) a panel discussion about how best to use expertise and innovation to support a boom in the construction of sustainable infrastructure in Australia, a virtual event that can be followed at www.webuild-group.com.au/en.

“Tunnelling Talks – Innovation and Expertise to Support Long Term Infrastructure in Australia,” is the title of the webinar, part of the Infrastructure Thought Leaders Series run by Engineers Australia, the largest professional association of the category in the country.

Webuild’s Executive Director Asia Pacific, Marco Assorati, and Remo Grandori, manager of the Group’s Plant & Equipment Design division, will join other experts including Harry Asche, President of the Australian Tunnelling Society, to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the sector as the country’s economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The webinar will discuss the factors required for infrastructure to support the country’s sustainable development, including new fields of expertise, innovation, as well as new models of collaboration between contractors and clients, the most recent being the one applied to build the Genova San Giorgio Bridge in record time. Global and local case studies of best practice in the infrastructure sector, particularly in tunnelling, will also be reviewed.

Webuild has been present in Australia for years. It is developing Snowy 2.0, the largest hydropower project in the country, and is completing the Forrestfield-Airport Link in Perth. In Sydney, it won a series of awards for its construction of the largest curved cable-stayed bridge in the country for Sydney Metro Northwest.
