Webuild: 22nd caisson installed for New Genoa Breakwater

Caisson submerged just 3 days after the previous one
Work carried out 7 days a week a project that combines innovation and offshore operations

 

GENOA, May 26, 2026 –Construction of the New Genoa Breakwater is progressing at a steady pace, with the successful installation of the 22nd caisson just three days after the 21st being put into place, confirming the robustness of the plan being implemented by the PerGenova Breakwater Consortium, led by Webuild, on behalf of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority.

Together with the Terzo Valico dei Giovi and Genoa Junction projects, which also being built by Webuild, the New Genoa Breakwater will strengthen the central role of the Ligurian port in Northern Italy and European trade flows, enhancing its competitiveness and adapting its port system to the new dynamics of international maritime traffic.
