Webuild: "Evolutio" infrastructure exhibition in Milan a resounding success

MILAN, May 13, 2026 – The immersive exhibition "EVOLUTIO," organised by Webuild at the "Leonardo da Vinci" National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, has come to a close, having enjoyed a strong attendance on the part of the public. The exhibition registered more than 36,000 visitors during its three-month run, confirming a genuine interest in the history of public infrastructure in Italy and its contribution to the country’s development.

Inaugurated on February 11 with the patronage of Assolombarda, the exhibition offered an unprecedented chronicle of Italy’s social and economic development through its public works during the last 120 years. At the heart of this exhibition is the story of projects built by Webuild, as illustrated at EVOLUTIO.MUSEUM — a digital platform offering 12,000 photographs of more than 400 projects from the Group's multimedia archive. This permanent virtual exhibition also documents the development of Italy and other countries through their infrastructure. Each project is presented within its cultural, historical and economic context, highlighting the positive impact on people’s lives in a format designed for the general public as well as industry experts.

To mark the exhibition's closing, Webuild launched a video entitled "Building According to Beauty" (Costruire Secondo Bellezza), which speaks of this deeper relevance in line with the content of EVOLUTIO — part of Webuild's Cultural Agenda. It starts with an observation on nature and how human ingenuity conveys the value of infrastructure as an instrument able to generate benefits by making resources accessible, connecting regions and improving people’s lives.

The exhibition, which follows the one held earlier in Rome that received 10,000 visitors, also hosted a programme of guided tours and events involving over 3,000 representatives from the public, private, religious, academic and financial sectors – let alone the scores of families and school children who came to admire it. Highlights included events featuring Geopop, which explains engineering challenges to a broad audience. There was also a debate held on the strategic evolution of the sector organised with Aspen Institute Italia; a talk on the union between design and public works organised with the Salone del Mobile.
