Webuild: CEO Pietro Salini meets Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez
MILAN, May 26, 2026 – “Large civil infrastructure projects are a driver of growth, integration and competitiveness for Europe. Collaboration between Italian and Spanish companies is a tangible example of Europe’s industrial capabilities and know-how to deliver complex and strategic projects worldwide,” said Pietro Salini, Chief Executive of Webuild, who met Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in Rome today as part of discussions held with representatives of leading Italian and Spanish industrial groups.
During the meeting, the strong industrial ties between Italy and Spain were reaffirmed. Over the years, the Group has built stable partnerships with leading Spanish players, starting with one of the most complex infrastructure projects of the past century: the expansion of the Panama Canal. Today, these collaborations have evolved into partnerships to deliver nine major sustainable infrastructure projects at a global scale, with a total value of about €17 billion.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to share a common industrial vision on the future development of sustainable and strategic infrastructure in Spain, Italy, Europe, as well as international markets, highlighting the role of industrial cooperation among European companies in addressing major global challenges.
