Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Former Milan Star Kaladze at the Ground-Breaking Ceremony of the Nenskra hydroelectric project

September 18, 2015 - From San Siro to Georgia, football to politics. Kakha Kaladze, the former Milan footballer now Georgia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, took part in the ground-breaking ceremony at the Salini Impregilo site of the Nenskra hydroelectric project.

The ceremony for the $575 million hydroelectric project in the northwestern Georgian region of Svaneti, held on 16 September 2015,  also had in attendance Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, various government and diplomatic officials as well as representatives of the JSC Nenskra Hydro consortium and K - Water.

During the event, that took place in the foreground of the Nenskra River and mountains, Kaladze emphasized the importance of the work to be carried out by Salini Impregilo as part of Tbilisi’s strategy to develop the country’s infrastructure. The project will guarantee the supply electricity in the winter months and maximize its export capacity in the summer.
