PRESS RELEASES

November 23, 2015 - Giulia Conti, "helmswoman" of the Aniene Sailing Team, sponsored by Salini Impregilo, and Francesca Clapcich, have won the World Cup title for the women's 49er FX Olympic skiff competition.  A historical achievement for the Italian sailing team, who had not won a World title in the Olympic class since 2008, in New Zealand, when Alessandra Sensini, conquered the World Championship of the Women's Olympic windsurfing RS:X competition.

Giulia's and Francesca's victory, who won the world title by defeating Grael-Kunze, their Brazilian opponents, comes on top of the World Cup bronze received in Santander in 2014, of the many ISAF World Cup podiums, of the Italian title won in Naples in late September, and especially of the gold medal won this year, in July, at the European Championship in Porto, Portugal.

These two Italian athletes are also the only crew to have, up to now, received an individual pass to participate in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Sailing Competition, thanks to this Word Cup and to the European title won during last July in Portugal.

"We are always moving ahead, towards our next goal, always growing", said Michele Marchesini, Team Manager of the Italian Team, confirming the community of values between the Aniene Sailing Team and Salini Impregilo, its sponsor, with the objective of strengthening the sailing team's activities towards the 2016 Olympics.
