Lane (Webuild Group) receives $93m Florida road contract days after Texas win
MILAN, October 8, 2020 – Webuild Group’s U.S. subsidiary Lane has won a $93-million Poinciana Parkway Phase 2 design-and-build contract in Polk County, Florida, less than a week after receiving a $176-million toll-road contract in Texas, further consolidating its leadership in road work in the United States.
Commissioned by the Central Florida Expressway Authority, the contract involves widening from two to four lanes the expressway for about seven miles and building a 6,500-foot-long bridge parallel to another one built in 2015, as well as two other bridges over local roads. It will extend the Poinciana Parkway north to County Road 532 at the limits of Osceola and Polk counties. Work is to start in the spring of 2021 and end in 2023.
The project is needed to ease traffic congestion and improve regional connections for Osceola drivers in light of the county having the second highest growth rate in Florida.
Lane is strengthening its presence in the U.S. state where it multiple highway projects worth more than $500 million, including the Wekiva Parkway (Section 8) that will connect at the north end to another Lane project, the I-4 Ultimate. Lane is also involved in $1 billion worth of work in North Carolina and another $1.4 billion on the U.S. west coast.
