“Raffaello” exhibit sponsored by Webuild (Salini Impregilo) reopens to public. Renaissance genius a model for bulding Italy’s future

PRESS RELEASES

MILAN, June 1, 2020 – The works of Raffaello will be admired by the public again in “Raffaello 1520-1483”, the great monographic exhibit sponsored by Webuild (Salini Impregilo) at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome that reopens its doors on June 2. It is the day when the exhibit was supposed to end but instead will open to coincide with the national celebration of Republic Day. It is the largest exhibit that Italy has dedicated to the artist, an homage to the Renaissance genius who died at the untimely age of 37 on April 6, 1520.

The exhibit, which was suspended for three months due to the national coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency, will last until August 30, 2020.  This important cultural event has more than 200 masterpieces, including paintings, drawings and comparative works. It is the first time that such a large number of his work is put on display in a single exhibit, coming from collections in Italy and abroad, 50 of which from Le Gallerie degli Uffizi in Florence, which helped make the extension of the exhibit’s opening dates possible. Among the works are Velata and Madonna del Granduca from the Uffizi; Santa Cecilia from the Pinacoteca Nazionale Bologna; Madonna Alba from the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Ritratto di Baldassarre Castiglione and Autoritratto con amico from the Musée du Louvre in Paris: and Madonna della Rosa from the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid.

In addition to being a painter, Raffaele was the architect of Pope Leone X, organising and supervising various work sites in Rome, both ancient and modern. His ability to work with teams of experts on various sites simultaneously has been a source of inspiration for Webuild. The exhibit is the latest in the Group’s cultural agenda, a series of initiatives that has promoted culture to a wider public. The initiatives have been held as the Group has built new centres of culture and contributed to preserving the world’s cultural heritage.

Raffaello, who was not only a painter but also architect, urban planner, refined admirer of antiquity, represents for Webuild an artistic and entrepreneurial reference in history as well as a model for the ambition and courage with which Italy must embrace to build a future with a clear vision, just like the Renaissance genius. It involves a project that the Group is proposing to the country including urgent measures for a relaunch worth at least 100 billion euros that entails the construction of schools, hospitals, bridges, roads and railways to revive production and employment.
