August 31, 2017 – Valfornace, a town in the Italian province of Macerata struck by an earthquake in 2016, will inaugurate on September 6 a new building housing a school donated by Salini Impregilo. Local officials and the Group's chief executive, Pietro Salini, will take part in the event.

The building will replace the "Ugo Betti" school that was damaged beyond repair by an earthquake, enabling 120 youngsters to start the scholastic year on September 15.

Workers had been under a strict deadline to finish the building in time for the start of the scholastic year since the signing of an agreement with town officials on February 28, 2016.

The school will have kindergarten, primary and secondary levels. Covering 540 square metres, it will have a garden, a cafeteria, a refectory and a multipurpose area in addition to the regular classrooms.

The opening of the school will mark a return to normalcy for the families in central Italy who endured the consequences of the earthquake, as well as Salini Impregilo's support for them.
