Sustainability: Al Bayt stadium in Qatar awarded again

NEWS

November 6, 2018 – The Al Bayt Stadium project in Qatar was awarded an A* of the Global Sustainability Assessment System, for its excellence and attention to environmental sustainability during the construction phase.

The stadium is being built by the Group for the 2022 FIFA World Cup championship. It received 5 stars out of a maximum of 6, exceeding the standards required by the Client and FIFA. It also places itself as a best practice for sustainability and reduced environmental impact.  The certification follows and integrates the score received during the design phase by the same body, last March.

The Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) is the most important integrated system for assessing sustainability for construction purposes in the entire Middle East. It considers social and environmental aspects during the entire project life cycle.

The award was delivered by the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD), during the 2018 Sustainability Summit in Doha. The Client, during the awarding ceremony said "We are very proud of the works carried out by the Al Bayt Stadium team, which brought to this certification. Our work pivots around sustainability, every day. The award follows the one received from GORD for the stadium's design, which obtained the highest score, as it is an expression of our local heritage and culture."

This recognition is proof, once again, of how Salini Impregilo works with the highest innovative and sustainable standards, criteria ever-more required by the Group’s strategic markets. Salini Impregilo confirms, once again, its “reference partner” role for building infrastructure contributing to meeting the global challenges set by climate change and sustainable cities.
