The future of infrastructure: Webuild and Lane at San Francisco’s Infrastructure Leadership Forum

Milan, October 31, 2017 – Salini Impregilo and Lane Construction were among the protagonists of the 9th North American Infrastructure Leadership Forum in San Francisco that discussed the top 50 infrastructure projects deemed essential to help the global economy grow and create jobs. Among the participants was former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Rodney Slater, who spoke of “Architecting the Future in the U.S.", underlying the country’s urgent need to invest in infrastructure, especially transportation.

Robert E. Alger, CEO of Lane Construction Corporation, presented the Salini Impregilo Group’s activities, illustrating its projects, such as the new Panama Canal, Florida’s Ultimate Highway, Lake Mead’s Hydraulic “Intake3” tunnel in Las Vegas and the Central Subway metro line in San Francisco.

A roundtable discussion illustrated the Group’s achievements in bringing innovative solutions to complex projects and its commitment towards sustainability and smart cities.

The event was sponsored by Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo, which led a panel entitled “Italian Excellence Growing Abroad in the Infrastructure Sector. Finance and Innovation to Optimize Performance and Support Challenging Projects”.

The Forum was attended by officials from the federal government, multilateral development agencies, DOTs, local administrations, as well as investors and the biggest operators in the sector. More than 350 experts took part in workshops, roundtables and private meetings.
