November 10, 2014 - Salini Impregilo has signed a contract to build the Dugway Storage Tunnel in Cleveland, Ohio, worth  USD 153 million (€123 million).

The Dugway Storage Tunnel is 4.5 km long, with a diameter of 8 metres. The contract also envisages the construction of 6 shafts of varying diameters and depths, connections between the tunnel and the shafts and a series of concrete structures for the collection and transporting of wastewater and rainwater.

The project is part of a broader plan for the collection, storage and treatment of these waters, with the objective of reducing the level of environmental pollution in Lake Erie.

The client, Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, is a government agency that manages the collection and treatment plants and infrastructures operating in the Cleveland Metropolitan Area (Ohio).

By securing this new contract, Salini Impregilo confirms its leadership in the construction of underground works as well as the importance of its activity in the United States where it has 5 projects underway, including the Lake Mead Hydraulic Tunnel in Las Vegas, the San Francisco metro line and the new Gerald Desmond bridge in Long Beach, California.
