Untimely death of Alberto Giovannini, Chairman of Webuild

PRESS RELEASES

Alberto Giovannini was an Independent Director of the Board of Salini Impregilo S.p.A. from 2012 until 2015 when he was appointed Chairman of the Board acting consistently with regard to independence, competence and Corporate Government best practices adopted by the Group.

Prior to Salini Impregilo he held a number of positions in the private sector and the public sector, such as the Italian Treasury and the European Commission, dealing with a wide range of issues ranging from sovereign debt management to financial markets infrastructure.

His technical expertise regarding capital markets, together with his international experience that he developed both academically, as manager, and in complex contexts of international entities like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, makes him a figure of interest for the Italian business world as Independent Director, a role that characterizes his career starting from the mid '90s, with the appointment as a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian electric utility ENEL, and the premier government bond trading platform MTS.

After graduating in Economics at the University of Bologna in Italy he obtained a Ph.D. in Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He started his career as an academic: professor of finance and economics at Columbia Business School in New York and fellow of the National Bureau of Economic Research and of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.

In this moment of grief Salini Impregilo wishes to express its unanimous and sincere gratitude to Alberto Giovannini for his essential contribution to the establishment and strengthening of the Salini Impregilo Group and the definition of the corporate governance of the new company established on January 1st 2014.
