Vasco Rossi has chosen Ridracoli dam, built by Webuild

NEWS

November 25, 2014 - Vasco Rossi, the Italian rock star, has chosen Ridracoli Dam, built by Webuild and an excellent example of the balance between engineering and the environment, as the set for his latest video. Built by Impregilo (as part of the CORIDRA Consortium) between 1975 and 1982 in the upper valley of the Bidente River, in the Romagnol Apennines, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, the dam is the unique setting for the breathtaking video of "Come vorrei," (How I'd like), a song from "Sono innocente" (I'm innocent), the singer's latest record.

In the black and white video shot by Giuseppe Domingo Romano, Vasco Rossi walks along the dam's foundations and the arched watershed that rises over 100 metres in height.

In the 1970s and 80s the dam was an example of innovation for Italy in the field of engineering and building technology and is one of the most significant works built in the country. Not only is it of great value to the community, but it is also a work of such great beauty that it has inspired an artist like Vasco Rossi and a director who has worked with the biggest names on the international music scene.

Ridracoli Dam is an artificial structure built along the Bidente River and Rio Celluzze and plays a fundamental role in the waterworks of the Romagna region, since it supplies drinking water to over 900,000 people living in 43 municipalities in the provinces of Forlì-Cesena and Ravenna.

The reservoir created by the dam reaches a volume of 33,000,000 m³. The dam body is formed by a structure with a double curvature and has a maximum height of 103 m and a crest length of 432 m. It is 25 metres thick at the base and 6.62 metres at the crest.
