MILAN, September 23, 2020 – Recognition of Webuild’s strategy for sustainable development is growing, with the Group earning a “Gold Medal” under the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating for 2020 for the third consecutive year. Its improved score also places it among the top 5% of companies rated by the agency for their performance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. In addition to the medal, the Group earns a score of 72 out of 100 in the review made by EcoVadis, far above the average of 46 for companies in the construction sector.

The agency’s rating and scoring system is becoming a point of reference for a growing number of governments and other entities, which include it in the selection process for the awarding of public works contracts. The high rating and score given to Webuild has given the Group an advantage in the bidding process.

The medal and score received from EcoVadis is the latest in a series of acknowledgements from ESG ratings agencies. Webuild has earned an “A” rating from Morgan Stanley Capital International’s (MSCI) ESG Research, an “Advanced” rating from Vigeo Eiris and an “A-“ from CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project). All of them confirm the Group’s long-term vision, strategy in sustainability, and business plan that is focused on growth and value creation for shareholders, investors, employees, clients and communities alike.

Webuild’s contribution to sustainable development promoted by the United Nations is reflected in the construction of infrastructure that contributes to meeting Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and the fight against climate change. It provides clients with innovative solutions for sustainable mobility, hydropower production, water management and green buildings. This type of infrastructure represented 88% of the Group’s revenues in 2019, with 58% of that total related to low-carbon projects that reduce harmful gas emissions. Projects in hydro power, metro lines and water management – from the United States to Australia to Northern Europe – enable millions of people to have access to renewable energy, efficient water systems and quick, safe and ecological transport.
