Webuild at the " Salone Orientamenti" in Liguria: CEO Pietro Salini is “Ambassador of Change”
Milan, November 10, 2020 - “Ambassador of change”: this is the title awarded for changing the way work was carried out during the construction of the new Genoa "San Giorgio” Bridge, and for demonstrating that high quality strategic infrastructure can be built in a very short time, even in Italy. Genoa mayor Marco Bucci assigned the recognition to Pietro Salini, CEO of the Webuild Group, during the 25th edition of the "Salone Orientamenti". This three-day event that focuses on training, orientation and work for young people, already registered thousands of bookings for virtual meetings and video and online interviews.
"The love for work, challenging oneself continuously and, above all, skill, all won during the construction of Genoa's "San Giorgio" bridge - said Pietro Salini -. This project is neither a miracle nor a complex model to replicate. We hope it can trigger change, providing a new drive to Italy's economy, while also creating opportunities for young people, the supply chain and, more generally, for the territories”.
Salini, subsequently urged not to fear change: "I have the honour of leading a Group that has made evolution and change its flag, with an acceleration in the last 20 years: in these last few days - he continued - we all witnessed an important step of this transformation: what was once a family business has now become a global Group, active in over 50 countries on 5 continents, with over 100 ongoing projects, and over 114 years of experience, with an average age of our personnel of 38 years. "But to transform challenges and unforeseen events into opportunities, skill is a requirement. This can be seen now with the change taking place due to the Covid-19 emergency. “Our staff is working remotely. We are approaching things differently, with new organizational models and processes that allow us to supervise and manage our construction sites with even greater efficiency”, concluded Salini.
The Group's participation in the "Salone Orientamenti" event is part of its talent attraction programmes for young people, for training and promoting technical culture. These activities aim at selecting talented profiles, and at offering career guidance and tutoring for career paths in the construction sector.
