PRESS NOTES

Group increases commitment to gender equality sustainable development

Supports young female talent in engineering

MILAN, Decembre 15, 2021 – Female undergraduate engineering students with the best theses on sustainability for the 2019-2020 academic year received the “Ingenio al Femminile” (Female Genius) award in an initiative by Italy’s Consiglio Nazionale Ingegneri (National Engineers Council) and supported by Webuild to reward female talent in the sector. By favouring its access into the labour market, it is promoting Gender Equality, goal five of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations. The ceremony was attended by Italian Minister for Equal Opportunity and Family Elena Bonetti.

“The Ingenio al Femminile Award aims to encourage women’s interest in technical and scientific fields, which is today marked by a strong male presence. It is a goal that is coherent with a strategy of sustainable development that the Group will continue to pursue in the coming years,” said Gian Luca Grondona, Chief Huma Resources, Organization & Systems Officer at Webuild. “We at Webuild found in this initiative the very seeds of our values and the solid motivations for our commitment to Diversity and Inclusion. We believe that equal opportunity in the working world can increase our Group’s competitiveness and its capacity to generate value.”

Webuild’s support for the Ingenio al Femminile Award is one of many initiatives that the Group is implementing to guarantee equal opportunity between the genders.

The award belongs to the wider “Next-Gen” initiatives plan dedicated to young talent that Webuild is pursuing in Italy and the world to contribute to the training of new generations and create employment opportunities and career development in the infrastructure sector. In the plan there are, among others, the Alberto Giovannini Award, collaboration with 18 Italian and foreign universities, as well as research and innovation initiatives such as the UniWebLab laboratory with the University of Genoa.
