Webuild’s Digital Infopoint brings transparency to Group’s projects in Italy
MILAN, January 20, 2021 – Webuild announces the launch of , a new communications channel that will open a window onto the Group’s 14 projects under construction in Italy. The projects, which promote sustainable mobility and green buildings, range from the Brenner Base Tunnel in the north to the Bicocca-Catenanuova railway section in the south. The projects provide work to more than 11,000 people, with Webuild working alongside a long supply chain of excellence.
The Digital Infopoint () is an interactive map that allows visitors to discover each project: the stages of construction, the progress of work on each site, and the benefits that a project brings to the area where it is located - from employment to economic development.
Following the success of the infopoint set up during the construction of the Genova San Giorgio Bridge in the port city of Genoa, the Digital Infopoint will bring greater transparency to the development of other public works with the aim of involving the Group’s stakeholders and the public at large in its activities. After Italy, the platform will gradually expand overseas, enriched by live initiatives.
In Italy, Webuild is committed to developing infrastructure that contributes to the expansion of sustainable mobility services. Projects like the Bicocca-Catenanuova rail section in Sicily and the high-speed/high-capacity railways like the Brenner Base Tunnel, Terzo Valico dei Giovi and Naples-Cancello section will become part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) to strengthen links across the European Union. Others, like the M4 metro line in Milan, the C metro line in Rome and that of Naples, will make urban commuting more efficient and environmentally friendly. Respect for the environment throughout the life of a project can also be found on the 106 Ionian Highway in Calabria, the Marche-Umbria Quadrilateral and green buildings like the ENI head offices in Milan.
All of these projects are supported by an Italian supply chain, composed of thousands of businesses with unique skills and technology. Webuild’s five main projects in Italy where 5,000 people work have a combined value of €4.4 billion, underlying the impact that they have employment and economic development – in addition to the public service that they will provide.
