Webuild strengthens its presence in the US: Lane awarded new USD238 million (EUR203 million) contract to improve Interstate-75 in Florida
Second awarding in just a few weeks after the contract for Interstate-85 in North Carolina
Milan, July 24, 2025 – Lane, Webuild Group's US subsidiary, has been awarded a new USD238 million (EUR203 million, 100% Lane) contract to improve a section of the I-75, one of the main corridors for road mobility in Northern Florida, in Marion County. The project is part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s "Moving Florida Forward Infrastructure Initiative", which aims at modernizing road infrastructure across the state.
The contract comes just a few weeks after Lane was awarded a USD 337 million (approx. EUR 288 million, 100% Lane) contract for Interstate 85 (I-85) in North Carolina. With an experience of over 82,500 km of roads and highways built globally, the Webuild Group, through Lane’s solid territorial presence, is therefore confirming itself as a strategic partner for US institutions in building safer and more innovative complex infrastructure and sustainable mobility.
The project concerns a section of 12.8 km of the I-75, a fundamental road artery of the state for freight and passenger traffic. Once completed, the project will provide a significant increase of traffic capacity, enhanced safety in case of extreme climate event evacuations, an estimated 96% reduction in northbound delays, and an 88% reduction in southbound ones. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026 and take an estimated three years to complete.
Work includes improvements to provide auxiliary lanes between interchanges on I-75 from SR 200 to SR 326, one bridge replacement, two new bridges, a new interchange at 49th Street, and safety modifications to three existing interchanges with the SR 40, US 27, and SR 326. The project also includes improving drainage systems, the installation of noise abatement walls, and building related works.
Many ongoing works are being built in Florida by Lane, including the I-275/I-4 Downtown Tampa Interchange (DTI) project; the Seminole Expressway/SR 417 Widening project in Seminole County; the I-4 at SR 33 Interchange project in Polk County; the Turnpike Mainline Widening project in Lake County; and the interchanges between the I-4 and Sand Lake Road, and the I-4 and the SR 535 in Orange County.
Nationally, the Webuild Group is carrying out interventions on strategic nodes and modernizing projects to improve roads and highways: in the Carolina states, through projects like the I-77 Interchange and the Bridges of the I-20 over Wateree River in South Carolina; and in Virginia, with the Newport News section of the I-64 HREL (Hampton Roads Express Lanes) project in Hampton.
