Webuild is already working on the SS106 Jonica with Mega Lot 3 and will build a total of approximately 55 km of modern road infrastructure

MILAN, January 30, 2026 – Webuild has been awarded a €531-million contract to build Lot 1 of the SS106 Jonica (Ionian) state road – one of the Calabria region’s most strategic transport corridors – along the section between the Coserie Viaduct and the West Corigliano interchange. The project strengthens Webuild’s role in the development of strategic infrastructure in Southern Italy. With this contract, the Group is delivering a total of 20 projects across Southern Italy, including the islands, with an overall awarded value rising to approximately €16 billion, providing employment to 9,500 people, both directly and through third parties (as of 30 September 2025), and 7,500 direct suppliers since the start of works.

The new section of the SS106 Jonica, commissioned by ANAS (FS Italiane Group), involves the construction of approximately 17 kilometres of state road, featuring complex engineering works such as 15 viaducts and 3 overpasses totaling three kilometres, and a 1.4-kilometre twin-tube artificial tunnel. Up to 500 people, directly and indirectly, are expected to be employed during construction. It will take advantage of the expertise and experience gained from the construction of the Third Mega Lot of the SS106 Jonica State Road, where Webuild is already working.

The project will apply technologies to enhance workplace safety, reduce the impact on the surrounding environment, ensure water and energy savings, and enable the digital management of the construction site. A monitoring system for the structure will be implemented once the infrastructure is operational.

Along the SS106 Jonica State Road, Webuild will deliver a total of approximately 55 kilometres of the new road corridor. The work on the Third Mega Lot – the main project along the Calabrian section of the SS106 that will help connect the Ionian coastlines of Calabria, Basilicata, and Puglia – have reached around 80 percent completion. To date, approximately 1,200 direct employees and third-party personnel are involved in the execution of the project. The supply chain has more than 880 companies engaged since the start of work, 45 percent of which are based in Calabria. Also in this region, Webuild has recently been awarded the Paola-Cosenza Doubling railway project on the Salerno-Reggio Calabria high-speed railway, commissioned by RFI (FS Italiane Group). The project entails the construction of more than 22 kilometres of rail line, including the 15 kilometre-long Santomarco Tunnel, the main part of the project.
