In Oman, Webuild entered the country with its Fisia Italimpianti unit winning a Letter of Award by a consortium led by Acwa with Veolia and Dhofar International for Investment and Development Co SAOG, with joint-venture partner Abengoa, to design and build a $100-million water desalination plant.

The JV used the most updated reverse osmosis technology, to deliver up to 113,650 cubic metres of potable water a day to the southwest city of Salalah. Fisia Italimpianti has a 51% stake in the JV. The project responds to the growing need for water in the region’s desert climate.
