Lane (Webuild Group) has been selected as “best value proposer” for a $346-million contract to design and build improvements to the I-440/US 1 from south of Walnut Street to north of Wade Avenue in North Carolina.

The project includes the widening of the interstate to six lanes from four for 6.5 miles to ease traffic access and flow.

The work, which also involves replacing pavement and bridges and upgrading interchanges, is expected to start in early 2019 and be completed by mid-2023.
