Line 1 of the Naples Metro, built in multiple stages as part of the plan to improve the city’s underground transportation network, is nothing short of a gem of engineering and art. 

The works form part of the overarching ‘Art Stations’ programme which, drawing upon the expertise of internationally renowned artists and architects, aims to transform places traditionally considered merely transitional into fully fledged art galleries

Webuild built 10 of the 20 stations on Line 1 currently in operation, including some of the most iconic Art Stations: Toledo, Università, Dante, Materdei, and Museo

Awards

Toledo station – designed by Spanish architect Óscar Tusquets Blanca and officially opened in 2012 – has garnered numerous awards, for its beauty and innovative use of underground space, including the Emirates Glass LEAF Award in 2013 and the ITA International Tunnelling Award in 2015. In 2014, it was also named the most beautiful station in Europe by the Telegraph and ranked among the world's most beautiful stations according to a list compiled by the American broadcaster CNN. On Line 1, Webuild is currently constructing Capodichino station.
