Riachuelo Wastewater Treatment System begins operations

In June 2025 Buenos Aires takes a major step toward environmental sustainability with the launch of the Riachuelo System, the largest wastewater treatment project ever built in Latin America. Developed in three main lots, two of which were constructed by the Webuild Group, the system is now operational with the commissioning of Lot 2 by Webuild’s subsidiary, Fisia Italimpianti

The Riachuelo System will enhance sanitation services for over 4.3 million people in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area and support the environmental recovery of the Río de la Plata.
