MILAN, August 20, 2026Webuild Group has strengthened its position in several categories in the 2026 rankings for both the Top 250 International Contractors and Global Contractors recently published by Engineering News-Record (ENR), the influential U.S. industry magazine. The rankings, based on construction revenues generated in 2025, also showed the Group remaining the world leader in the water sector, a position it has held for more than a decade. It rose to join the first 30 construction companies in the Top 250 Global Contractors ranking.

In 2025, Webuild’s leadership in the water sector was reflected in the delivery of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), the largest hydropower complex in Africa, and, with its subsidiary Fisia Italimpianti, Lot 2 of Riachuelo Wastewater Treatment System in Argentina, the largest of its kind in Latin America. The Group’s primacy is the result of the consolidation of its expertise in dams, desalination and water treatment plants, aqueducts and resilient water infrastructure. A groundwater treatment plant for the Zuluf offshore oil field in Saudi Arabia recently produced its first usable water.

One notable improvement was Webuild’s rise to 26th from 34th in ENR’s Top 250 Global Contractors ranking, which includes construction revenue generated by companies both domestically and internationally. The jump of eight places in the ranking underlined the Group’s ability to create value in markets both domestic and foreign. Its ranking among the Top 250 International Contractors, which considers only revenues outside a company’s home market, went up to 12th from 13th.

Webuild improved its position in a number of other categories. In transportation, it rose to ninth from 10th place. The sector includes projects like roads, bridges, railroads, tunnels. In 2025, for example, the Group delivered the Unionport Bridge in New York. In Italy, it is involved in every major project aimed at improving the country’s connection with the rest of Europe, including high-speed railways between Verona and Padua; Milan and Genoa; and Naples and Bari. It is also fortifying the rail links in Sicily. Given the vast underground networks to be done for these projects, Webuild is managing one of the largest fleets of tunnel-boring machines (TBMs) in the world. Abroad, it is working on the Grand Paris Express and the Suburban Rail Loop in Melbourne. The Group remains third place among foreign companies operating in the Australia/Oceania region, its second biggest market outside Italy where it contributing to major projects like Snowy 2.0, the North East Link in Melbourne and the Womens and Babies Hospital in Perth.

In the first half of 2026, Webuild had revenues of €6.65 billion, and an order book worth €53.7 billion. These latest results highlight the Group’s ability to execute large, complex projects in more than 50 countries with a workforce of nearly 85,000, both direct and indirect.
